Blairsville’s Scottish Festival & Highland Games takes into industry the next weekend in June

BLAIRSVILLE, GA – A Kilted Golf Vintage, Bonniest Knees and a Ceilidh supper. Ceud Mile Failte! (100, 000 greets): It must be the Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games. The starting service because of this family-friendly festival, presented at questionable Meeks Park, begins a weekend of Scottish clan gatherings, concerts, competitions and Scottish enjoyable and games. Headlining this Southeast Tourism community Top 20 event are the Massed groups and also the Parade of Tartans, Kirkin of the Tartans (Sunday worship service), and a Mini Cooper vehicle Show. Bagpipes, re-enactments, dances and pet demos

Both Saturday and Sunday will feature clan gatherings, genealogy, athletic competitions including a hammer and a caber toss, concerts, Highland dance, children’s games and activities, historical re-enactors and ancient weaponry, including sgian dubhs (ceremonial knives). You will have Scottish meals eg haggis, bridies (beef pie) and scones and Scottish product like kilts and ghillie brogues (shoes) and, needless to say, the pageantry of the pipelines and drums – the pulse regarding the Blairsville Scottish Festival.

Be here at noon on Saturday for the Opening Ceremony whenever several pipe and drum groups – their Tartans (colors) flying – combine for a spectacular spectacle and, that night, for a Scottish Rock Concert.

Children’s tasks include train trips, mini golf, face artwork and Passport into the Clans. Songs and tune may be done survive stage and throughout Meeks Park and you will have standard Scottish party, real time demonstrations (falconry, sheepdog herding, ancient weaponry) and historical re-enactments that deliver the fabled Scottish Highlands to rural north Georgia. Rounding out the weekend are workshops on the harp, fiddle and bagpipe.

The weekend enjoyable is preceded because of the Kilted Golf Classic, held Friday morning at Butternut Creek course and Friday evening entertainment in downtown Blairsville.

Registration for Golf is needed and at another expense.

Location: All unique occasions happen at Meeks Park, excluding Friday morning’s Kilted Golf Classic is held at Butternut Creek greens. Friday evening’s live entertainment happens in downtown Blairsville.

Expense: $10/adults each day or $15 for just two days; young ones 12 and under no-cost
Unique Concert on Saturday, 7:30 p.m., $5/adults

Admission fee includes parking.

Parking: Handicap-accessible parking will come in the playground in a designated lot; general parking can be acquired on your ball areas at Meeks Park. Shuttles from the basic parking area and throughout Meeks Park can be obtained.
